Relationship Advice from Old Spice? Why on earth is my Grandad’s after shave giving out relationship advice, you ask? Well, first there was the new, pretty cool Old Spice ads, that let you know that the Old Spice man is a pretty cool dude – and that it was only a matter of time before men would want to be him and women would want to be with him.

Mission accomplished, you might say – I no longer think that Old Spice smells like old man, I think it smells like this sexy, muscular man and yes, I do want to look – or at least smell – like him.

But that’s not all from the new Old Spice man. He’s also dishing out relationship advice to twitter users. For example, he explains how to get as close as humanly possible to looking like himself:

Whether or not you can or should stay friends with your ex is an old dilemma. But social networks like Facebook don’t just make it easier to trace old friends, they also make it easier for your ex to trace you, whether you want to be friends or not. So: what to do when you receive a friend request from your ex on Facebook? Accept? Ignore? Decline?

Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke has a pretty strong response to the question “Friends with your Ex on Facebook – yea or nay?”

The song is about an ex who broke her heart years ago and now wants to be her friend on Facebook. Her reaction: “R U ******* Kidding Me?”. She just doesn’t care “what kind of Cocktail he is” Instead, she says: “I don’t don’t give a toss if you’re a pirate or a ninja, I suspect you’d be a pirate but I don’t wanna verify it….and I certainly don’t want you poking me!” So instead of being friends with her ex on Facebook, she clicks “ignore”.

It’s all very “end of a relationship 2.0″!

You usually find them in busy places, in shopping centres, pedestrian zones and near train stations, carrying signs that read Free Hugs. Usually, they are also surrounded by a confused, amused or intrigued – and a few people who want to collect their free hugs.

But what’s the point of all these free hugs? For once, this is a crazy movement that didn’t originate in the USA, but in Canada. There are several stories about how the Free Hugs Campaign started, but the gist is always the same: the guy who invented free hugs was sad and lonely and far from the people who could have given him a simple hug to make him feel betterh. He would have loved nothing more than a friendly hug at that moment, so he founded the Free Hugs Campaign, which has been spreading free hugs worldwide ever since:

Some people think the idea is a little silly, some start discussions about the legal implications of giving away free hugs in public (!) and others are overwhelmed and enthusiastic. Free Hugs fans tell of the warm, fuzzy feeling a free hug gives them, that it cures sadness and loneliness, that it puts smiles on the faces of huggers and huggees, and that they want to make the world a friendlier place.

If you manage to watch this YouTube Online Dating Video to the end, you’re a more patient person than I am, but the concept really is interesting. The video is interactive, allowing the viewer to answer questions about age, gender, etc. Depending on your answer, you are redirected to the next video, until finally… Well, you tell me – I didn’t watch it til the end.

Where can you find the best dating advice? These days, all the best dating advice seems to be coming from the 80s. Recently several dating advice videos from the 80s have been making the rounds and although we don’t recommend you take their advice, they are highly amusing.

The dating expert in the following video recommends initiating a conversation. So far so good, but what shall we talk about? “A book with an unusual title, a small stuffed animal, interesting pieces of jewellery, a pet, sports jersey, a sports magazine or a t-shirt with a slogan.” Uh, WHAT? Alternatively, women could pretend to be interested in sports. Great strategy – if you’re keen of ending up in a relationship based on made-up common interests.

The greying business man in the next video is the only one with a piece of useful dating advice. If you find a person attractive, you should engage them in a conversation that is interesting for both of you. Genius!
